Today's Guest: Lindsey Grant, OLL's Newly Hired Community Liaison

Posted by: Lindsey Grant on 07/23/2008

Q: Lindsey, you just started working for the Office of Letters and Light. What is the most unexpected project you are working on this week?
A: Well I’ll tell you. On my second day in the office, I found pages and pages of stories in my inbox with a note that there were more on the way. At first I was a little put out because this paperwork interfered with my busy schedule of admiring my exquisitely clean, orderly desk. I soon discovered, though, that these were all true stories, each relating a different and equally inspiring way that NaNoWriMo changed these Wrimos’ lives. Suddenly, my alphabetized, color-coordinated filing system didn’t seem quite so compelling. As I began to read, I quickly saw that no part of the human experience was left untouched by the magic and madness of November’s authoring frenzy. These stories also served as a fascinating introduction to Wrimos around the world. I loved reading about who you are, where you live, what kind of peanut butter you buy, and why NaNoWriMo is an important part of your life.

For the rest of the summer, I will be posting a new story every weekday on the NaNoWriMo blog. Come fall, as we ramp up to the 10th Annual NaNoWriMo, we’ll continue to run them, but less frequently. If you have a tale to tell, send it in! I want to read it. Your stories were the best beginning to a new job and the only proof I need that I am in good company.

Lindsey jumped on the Office of Letters and Light bandwagon in July as the Community Liaison.
