Excerpt: Second Time Around

When darkness spreads across the land once more
The souls of heroes shall return

Norwood Razvan looked again from his translation of the prophecy to his divination notes. He admitted the poetry wasn't great, but that's what happens when languages change.
Norwood had spent the last few months collecting news reports from travelling merchants and spending hours at a time scrying the places mentioned. There was definitely an increase in activity which the simpler minded would just describe as evil, and it seemed to be moving toward one single purpose. He wasn't sure what it was yet, but his research had lead him to an ancient book hidden away in the library of a local nobleman, and in that large, slightly crumbling book was the prophecy that had taken him days to translate from the old tongue. More work was needed to translate the rest of the book, but it seemed to concentrate mostly on the works of a wizard of the time, and his attempt to summon something; Norwood was still trying to work out exactly what.
