I've been a voracious reader since I learned in 2nd grade, I live in a tiny little mining town in cali, I type really fast with two fingers and I secretly plan on running away from college and hopping freight trains in france while eating bread and vegetables I beg from nice French people. Don't tell my mum.

No, because then it turns out that there's a shadowy man hanging around who doesn't want a centuries-old mystery discovered. And then, apparently, she finds out that her boss, his son, who happens to be her truest love, and their neighbor, are all time-travelling vigilantes. Sweet...? I shrugged. "So...what can we do with him? I mean, it's not as if we can lock him up for the rest of his life just because he's from the 18th century, right?"

Katherine raised her eyebrows. "Welll...?" Jesus Christ, the woman was ruthless.

Seely shook his head. "No, we can't, Kate. The guy hasn't done anything wrong but feel blind patriotism for the mother country and act upon it. We'll have to socialize him."

The other two sighed, but Seely went on. "He can stay with Adam and I, and we'll handle the basic orientation. But we'll all work on taking him out to meet people and get used to this time. He'll need to find his place." He suddenly turned on the officer. "Hey kid." The boy looked up at him, dazedly.

"Yes?" He blinked ten or twelve times, slowly.

"What's your name, kid?"

"Um...it's, ah..."

"Come on, fella, don't be scared. This is not as weird as it looks." It must have looked pretty weird to him-a warehouse full of shiny new time travel paraphernalia. Seely crouched down next to him. "You're gonna be fine. What's your name?"

"It's...James. Yes, James Fike."

"Well, Mr. Fike, I know this is very tough for a guy of your age to handle. How old are you, James?"

"I'm...22. Born in 1754."

"Well, James, I'm sorry you were taken from your life so young, but it's going to be fine now. You can come and stay with me and my son, Adam." He gestured to Adam, who was sitting on the platform next to the car, fiddling with his powdered wig, which he had taken off. "Adam, this is James. James, this is Adam." Adam got up and shook James' hand. The British boy looked rather bewildered.

"Now," said Seely with a grim smile, "Now, we will all get a good night's sleep, and deal with this in the morning. "Beds in the basement, pajamas in the costuming room. Knock yourselves out. I'm going to go check on the status of the Revolution."

I reluctantly followed Katehrine in the direction of the pajamas. But as I walked downsatirs into the basement, I caught a glimpse of Seely, leaned over a desk with a single lamp, pouring over history books with his head in his hands.
