Synopsis: The Art of Murder

There's a small school in the middle of the Pacific that caters to a very specific group: those with superpowers. You see, some people have a response to abuse that brings up certain "skills". Natalie Seresin, our protagonist, has a power very similar to a Basilisk's Glare. She can kill anything that looks straight into her unprotected eyes.

The school teaches the students how to control their power, how to survive in the harsher areas of the worlds, the three teachable "skills", and all about our sister planet in the Andromeda Galaxy, Alvix. For the younger pupils, normal schoolwork is also taught.

The students also receive certain tasks. This time, it's rather personal for Natalie. Her best friend has been kidnapped by some sadistic murderer, who tortures and eats most of his victims. They have to decode the taunting letters the murderer has been sending out to the world, find him or her and take her in. Saving the victims is optional.

Then there are all those mini-tasks, like a gladiator-style battle and a trip to the freezing Antarctic (part of the survival training tests). The students are taught not to get too attached to anybody; there was too great of a chance of them dying at some point.

All that, and everybody still has to deal with their own problems.
