I didn't know where else to put this, so here it goes;
Set during the Cold War, Russian vampires Matvey and Gosha are tricked into going to Australia and, in an attempt to keep vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural creatures from getting involved in human affairs, are kept there in a concentration camp with others of their kind. However, some others like themselves aren't keen on lying low while the two human nations try to figure things out...
What genre would that be?

It's fantasy. There are some aspects of a novel that automatically place it in a genre, and having supernatural creatures in your novel pretty much makes it fantasy.

I'd say it may be fantasy. If the existence of vampires, werewolves and other supernatural creatures is revealed to the general human public, then you may be in alternative history territory.

I'd say fantasy as well, unless you get really into psychology and experimentation, in which case it could go over into literary -- but even then, it would be literary fantasy. I wrote a literary fantasy novel last year.

Historical urban fantasy? It's really a cross of various genres.

Hi
I am writing a novel about weirdness (there are mysterious killings and secret social groups from religious to political all vying for power). in this city of my novel, there are creatures who live among humans who are made of wood. Their story is told: how they came to be and how they navigate this world with their vulnerabilities. What genre is this story?
I don't think it is science fiction even though i do have new technology in my story but that technology isn't the main idea it is just seamlessly part of this world. Although not all science fiction is about space travel, aliens and bizarre technology. I don't think it is fantasy because there aren't elves, fairies, knights, dragons in my novel.
I have a transgender character, there is some romance, there is a bit of horror in it, quite a lot, there is some suspense, the tone of my prose is rather dark and sarcastic, There are adults and two children in the story who I follow.
I kept it up for over 50,000 words from last years so i want to finish it this year. I just wonder what genre it is.

Perhaps science fiction horror, ala the Alien movies? (And fantasy doesn't need elves, fairies, knights, or dragons either -- just something with no scientific basis whatsoever. And unless the origin of these wood-creatures is in some way magical, you're talking a dash of science fiction just because of the setting.)

Okay, so here's what I know of what my novel is going to be like:
It's about a girl living with her miliatry father in what would be something like early 19th century Europe. Sometime during the novel a war starts. But there are still things that don't really fit into that era (clothing and little bits of technology). Would this be historical fantasy?
