Hello Ottawa-ians!
I noticed that there were no posts in our forum, which was extremely depressing. So...I made one!!
So I guess this would be the place to introduce yourself! Since we are going to be working together...Anyways, I'll start.
My name is Elysia, I'm 17 years old and I am in grade 12 at Sacred Heart High School in Stittsville. I live to write, and er...yes. I participated and won NaNo 07 and Screnzy 08. I'm in the air cadets and I work at Tim Hortons. (boo.)
Anyways...Okay...I'm really boring. But hey, what about you guys??

Hi! I'm demonmouse, and I'm a writer. I feel like I'm at an AA meeting...anyway, I'm 16 (finally) and a junior at Bell High School. Also participated and won NaNo '07, but I didn't do Screnzy. And I love Timmy's, but then again, I just love food in general (yay for freakishly fast metabolism). I'm also boring. Uh...I play guitar, and draw, and I'm really good at academics and math/science type subjects, but for the most part dislike them, and I'm not so great at artsy stuff, but I love it. Writing is kind of my crossover where I have my grammar-nerdy-goodness that I can actually do right and the creative spin that I enjoy. Go me.

Oi mates! Long time no see, eh?
I'm Emy and I'm already bouncing off walls from excitement. I'm 15 and I'm in 10th grade at l'Escale in Rockland. I would like to warn you all that I am a true french frog at heart (please ignore the fact that I only write in english).
I won NaNo last year, and it was just an incredible experience. I can't wait to start over again, my fingers are just itching to beat the crap out of my keyboard! Aside from writing, I play piano, hockey and read manga. I am desperately trying to learn guitar, bass, violin and Japanese (key word here being "trying"). I get bored quite easily in class, whereas my ability to understand the Morse code and Braille. Next on my list is sign language (funny, how the things I learn in math have nothing to do with math). One last thing: I love parentheses! Just in case you hadn't noticed...
Anyhow, I'm looking forward to working with you guys. I'm always open to conversation, so don't be a stranger (insert obnoxious and annoying giggling).

Hello everyone,
I'm a newbie so be nice to me. I'm from Ottawa and only started writing in January of this year. I have a lot of stories posted on another site and that is where I found out about NaNoWrMo.
I'm a high school teacher and am very impressed that there are so many young people interested in this contest.

Welcome to the Insanity Erin!
Believe me, NaNo is worth it! You'll have a great time. I was new last year, and the community here is awesome and really supportive. I'm glad teachers are getting into this too. Most of mine have no idea what I'm talking about when I start rambling on and on about it.
Feel free to ask as many questions as you need. We're all here to help, and we're all in this together.

Heyyy :D
I'm soo looking forward to NaNo this year! This is my fourth year as a participant, but my first in the city of Ottawa, I just moved here. So I'm really pumped for writing in a new city :)
So, a brief bio is in order? I'm Cosmic_lightning or Cosmic for short. I've been writing since forever, and this is my fourth year as a NaNo participant. I'm a fresh(wo)man at uOttawa and this year so far has been fantastic. Only gonna get better, too... :D
I actually hate the month of November, so NaNo rocks my world by making November a quadrillion times better. :D
Props to Japanese learning, too ^_^ I have a class in it is and I love it soo much. I love languages.
So this year my Nano project is actually a bit of a cheat, because I got impatient and started writing already. But I'm only about 1K in, so does that count? Haha. Still aiming for 50K or to finish this novel, whichever comes first. If I'm lucky 50K will come first... I really want to finish this year. I've won Nano only once, the first year I did it. Since then life has been more busy and I haven't been as addicted to writing. Hopefully this year will be another win :D
Anyways, looking forward to chilling with you guys (at least online lol) this year... can't wait for the 1st of Nov!
<3

Hi everyone.
My name is Danielle. This is my first time doing Nano, though not my first time writing.
I live in Rockland, and I am 33 years old. I have three kids, aged 3 to 7. We just moved here from Winnipeg, actually.
I am going to be working on a paranormal romance, with a gargoyle in it.
I am really excited about this.
Good luck!

Thanks Elysia. I have never had any of my students talk about this contest in past years. I am excited to see if I can write such a long story.

FOR SHAME! I feel so embarrassed that I wasn't one of the first to post. Lee-anne and I have been so busy trying to plan events and wrap up our personal life so that we could totally be on for you guys in November!
So any, introductions.
I'm Kay. I am one of your MLs this year. Last year I was "ML in training" with Lee-Anne and Michelle. This year unfortunately Michelle has left us and I have stepped up to take her place.
So I'm 21. I just started studying Journalism at Algonquin College. I have participated in Nano for far too many years now....I don't know if I can even accurately count....I have won twice. I'm hoping that this can be my third win and a win that I actually enjoy. I always end up hating my novel by the end of the month.
Anyway, it's great to see you guys out and ready to go! I can't wait to meet you all at our awesome events this year! Look for those very soon.

Hey all!
I'm 33 and this is my first NaNo. I missed it last year...by a day pretty much. Don't ask how I never heard of it before, considering how much I'm online and the fact that I've been writing since I was 11.
I'm originally from Burlington, Vermont, but married a Canadian and immigrated up here. We have a 2 1/2 year old daughter named Ayla and just bought our first house. We move at the end of October (Embrun).
I'm really looking forward to November! Already have a bunch of notes, an outline started, ideas flowing and I've taken to carrying about a little notebook to jot down names, ideas and whatever else pops into my head. I tend to start daydreaming about it and ignoring my husband when he talks to me. :P

Hello!
This is my 4th attempt to make the big "50k". Nice to see some new faces, and the regulars as well :D I'm 31, and drive in from Prescott for the write-ins as often as I can. I'm still undecided as to what I'm going to write about this year - but i'd better get myself in gear, only 4 weeks left to plot!
Welcome back everyone!

Hi everyone! *waves*
I'm Nancy and I'm a writaholic. Yeah, I know it isn't a real word; but the NaNo counters won't know. *grins*
I'll turn 45 in the middle of NaNo. (I feel very old.) This will be NaNo number four and, with luck, win number four. I've had an incredibly hectic year with moving and expanding our business; selling our house; moving to Carleton Place (and losing my two dedicated rooms: writing and sewing) and lots of other stuff. I'm not sure if I'll make it into town for write-ins so I might set up a small write-in for people in the Carleton Place area since I have access to an Internet Café-type place (kitchen at work with tables and wireless). Not sure yet if it will be practical; but I'll put it out there and see if there is any interest. (I'll start a new thread for this topic.)
After the year I've had, NaNo might be a good way to relax.....not.
Good to see people back and so many newbies. It's going to be one heck of a sugar and caffeine fueled month.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I've been so busy I have no plot (no problem!) I also have no characters, no genre, no ideas whatsoever. Yup, I'm going in flailing from the beginning. Success is guaranteed. Yay NaNo.

Hi there!
I'm Dayat.
I'm a Nano oldie, this is my fifth year, even though I have yet to reach the monster 50K (5th try, I'll definitely try to reach the goal this year!)
I don't exactly live in Ottawa, but just across the bridge in Hull. (That makes me in the ottawa region right? ;_; ) I'm 22 and I'm majoring at the Universite du Quebec en Outaouais in comics. This is my last year so I expect that November is going to be very no-life for me XD (like last November and the four Novembers before that XD)
I like drawing children stories, reading badly translated instructions on microwaves, playing video games, writing, wearing scarves and last but most important, drinking tea <: I speak/write/read fluently French and English and I can be seen most of the time with a pencil in my hair.
That's about everything interesting there is about me XD;
I'm looking forward to start already even though I have absolutely no idea what to write about.

Hey, I feel old too! I'll be turning 43 November 3rd. I'm in my second year at Carleton U, combined English and Greek & Roman studies major. Last year was my first Nano and I did it! Yay for me. Trouble is, this year I have tons of reading to do and 5 essays due in November. I'm going to need a lot of luck and coffee to make it this year! Hope to see you all at some write-ins! I didn't make any last year, but this year I think I'm going to need the support. Good luck, y'all!

Hi. My name is Susie. I'm actually the "baby" (37 in November) sister of LKB. This is my first Nano though I considered doing it last year. I'm not a writer by any means, I've just got a story in my head that is dying to get out.

Hi everyone!
Tyava here. This is my second year for NaNo.
With a lot of determination, coffee and support from my husband I made it through last year and am looking forward to this year. I am actually so pumped that I started outlining in July. My characters and plot points are all completed and I still have time for some extra research and fine tuning. Yeah!
I live outside the city so I don't get to the write-ins but I look forward to offering support through the forum and getting to know everyone.

hey yall!!! I'm Mindy or Melinda which ever you like is fine with me. This is my uh....i have no clue how many I've done...I think this is my fourth nanowrimo.... Anyways I'm 20 years old and I'm from outside of Ottawa near the St. Lawrence river (it's really pretty with the sun setting down). I've been to a few write ins with my friend who is very excited to do her official first year of nanowrimo. I've been writing since grade 1 so I know for sure I was born to do this. I even dropped out of college for I could do writing full time. Luckily I have very supportive parents who have always encouraged me to do what I love and try my hardest. I'm in a correspondence writing school from Ottawa called Winghill Writing School which I love to pieces. I'm currently writing a play with my tutor Joan Hall Hovey. From now til the end of December will be nothing but a writing bananza for me. I have a one week Online Writing Workshop in October, I'm trying to finish my first draft of my novel from last years nanowrimo (IT'S ALMOST DONE YAY), I'm working on my stage play, then nanowrimo. I just love this time of the year. Being extremely busy is so great!

Wow, is it ever great to be back! I'm Lee-Anne, Kay's partner in MLing crime. I've been doing NaNo for long enough to know better by now, and what I know is that doing NaNo is better than doing drugs, doing taxes, or doing the Hokey Pokey. (Okay, that last one is a tight call, but a girl's got to have her biases.)
I'll be writing about trolls, mail-order marriage, frontier life, telepathy, architecture, and several varieties of sex. In the words of Buffy: "Tremble before my fashion greatness."
Oh, and genetics.
And goblins.
And impossible economics.
And probably a great deal about the local equivalent of potatoes. Or maybe turnips.
And a religion that isn't, actually.

Well, guess I'll make my fabulous appearance here.
Friends call me Squeek (but that name was already taken), I just moved back from an unwanted stint in Cornwall, am in my later 20s, and I hope to actually participate in NaNo this year. Previous years I've signed up, but never even got to the whole writing thing, kept making excuses.
But this year! I am determined! I've selected the idea, I'm starting the outline, nothing shall stop me! Unless my internal editor gets free of her cage...
In any case, I'm rather looking forward to doing this, and perhaps attending a Write-in or some such thing. Best of luck to everyone!

Hello everyone! My name's Grace, and this will be my third year doing NaNo and, hopefully, my first win. I made some lame excuses for the past few years, but I won't let them get in my way. Nope. Not this year.
I'm in grade 12, so I'll be busy with homework, scholarship and uni apps, as well as other things, but hopefully I'll find time to write 50k words of a bad modern day fantasy about *shudders* werewolves. I have basic ideas, but still need to go over the details.

I'm from a little lost town close to Ottawa! I'm also sixteen and in 12th grade, like many above. I participated in NaNo last year, but didn't give out my location... But this year, I'm joining in!
Good luck to everyone

I think a bunch of previous posts got nailed with the server issues or something 'cause I don't see what I said the last time, but yeah..
I'm Melissa (aka Mel or Lissa). I'm 25, a giant dork/nerd, and plan to write in the same universe as my last Nano which is basically a universe meshing elements of Mortal Kombat and Lord of the Rings with angels/demons/gods as well.
I've found a new hobby with my new desktop to help in my Nano procrastination: making trailers and fanvids. >:D Yay Windows Movie Maker.

I too just saw the calendar of events... and am now even more excited than i was before! (how can that be possible? i dunno but it is!!). Coming from Ontario:Elsewhere means I've never gone to write-in events... they're usually just too far away from me to attend. But the library's walking distance from me now... yaaay!
I have a good, good feeling about this year... ^_^
