This Thread is the place for people from different regions can get together and offer one another gentle 'encouragement'. :-) Please emphasise that this thread is supposed to be light-hearted and a certain amount of jibes and name-calling is to be expected, but participants should still follow the main site rules about behaviour on the boards and the use of smileys to emphasise the jovial nature of insults should be actively encouraged.

I will be watching and I expect you all to play nice. The basic site rules apply.

However if you plan to call the competition a bunch of candle wasting Sassenachs, be sure to follow it with a *grin* or :)

I throw down the gauntlet, prepare to be clobbered.

Your Fearless Leader,
Anastasia

Sorry for my tardiness here, family issues basically stole the last week of my October :(.

Here's the regions who've RSVPed to say they're taking part:

Edinburgh
Derbyshire
Glasgow
Ireland::NorthWest
Leicester
Dundee
York & Leeds
Lancs & Cumb
England::Elsewhere
Isle of Skye
Scotland::Else
Newcastle
Darlington
Nottingham
Dublin
Ireland::Elsewhere
Northern Ireland
Cambridge

They should all have banter threads of their own so feel free to head over there and give 'em hell. :)

Any others will be added it/when I hear from them.

Good luck everyone.

I've just discovered that there is a big table ranking all our regional efforts! Who knew? (Can you tell this is my first time?)
So the news is - Scotland: Elsewhere is at No 96 for total word score
Isle of Skye is waaaay down at No 371
Conversely; Elsewhere are waay down at No 270 for average word count with 2,256 words apiece, while Isle of Sky are way up at No 71 with a healthy 3,052 per Wrimer :)
Edinburgh are at No 128. though their average is a scary 3,334. Glasgow are logging in at number 176, average 2,292. The Granite City are labouring away down at No 275 but have an average of 2,731.
:D

Oops, sorry must have missed them on my scan down the list. I've just checked and it seems the answer iss, yes they are worth a mention, just ;-P. Dundee stands at No 417 in the rankings with an average of 2,568.
Fife are at No 388 with a paltry 1,341 words apiece and Perth log in at No 397 and 2,042 per Nanoer.

So the full order of Scottish wonderfulness is currently:

Elsewhere
Edinburgh
Glasgow
Aberdeen
Skye
Fife
Perth
Dundee (aren't you glad you asked?)

if I have missed anyone else, I don't wanna know! :D

I've got feet in many of the Scottish camps, as a former pupil of Bell Baxter and with a sister in 'Muchty I count myself as an honorary Fifer, as well as former Glaswegian, Edinburgher and all round gad about. So I only really lose when the honours start going to the likes of tipsy old Aberdeen or Dundee ;-)

Don't know why Marie Rex is fretting about her kyaking time though with the scary word count she has going. I've only done about 500 or so today [but, boy were they good!], might manage a few more after 'Heroes'!

yeah, by a margin of less than 200 words apiece. If I'd posted my update earlier you would be toast! ;-)

Have Fife joined the Word War, you aren't in the ratings, have you fallen through the gaps?

But when you sort the list for average word count, as opposed to total word count, Isle of Skye comes in 4th place. In the world!

Quisitor, I've got a wee small crew. Which means I have a slight advantage. But at the same time. I've got a 16 year old first year that is seriously kicking butt.

This is great fun.

It's getting awfully quiet in here. Is that the sound of loads of people hitting the wall?

Well I'd like to say that I am tremendously proud of how well the Aberdeen crew are doing at breaking through that wall. Keep up the good work.
