Word War: Official Sign Up Thread

Here's where you must sign up for the NH, VT, ME word war!

The deadline to sign up as a word warrior is NOVEMBER 5th. That's next THURSDAY.

Here's what you're signing up to do.

1. Write as many words as you can!
2. Check in on Mondays by MIDNIGHT local time. When you check in you'll need to provide your username and your word count as of midnight. Anything after midnight doesn't count towards that week, but can be counted in for next week.
3. Um. Have loads of fun and carry on the bold tradition of NH out writing everyone else!! WRITE ON!

I'm Kat, and I've been around since 2001, although I took last year off because of some personal stuff. I'm very excited to be back, though! I now live and work in Merrimack. In my non-writing time, I read, knit, cook, and watch too much TV.

November 7th Progress/Chat Thread

Are all the New Hampshire WriMos sleeping in today? That seems to be...I wasn't expecting to have to start this thread, but I am pleased to. Haven't started writing yet. Just arrived at a "private" write in with a buddy. We're going to knock out a bunch of words and watch the 6 hour BBC "Pride and Prejudice" with Colin Firth (swoon). Should be a great day.

Just curious...

How does everyone deal with writers block?

I like to go to www.freerice.com and answer random questions (at least it's something charitable), or go for a walk.

How does everyone else deal with it?

Especially when you're trying to write 50K and it keeps popping up!

Hi! Sorry if a thread has already been made about this; I looked through the forum and didn't see one.

I'm hosting a write-in on Sunday, November 8th, at a coffee shop in downtown Portsmouth called Breaking New Grounds. It's an awesome place, with wonderful coffee and desserts. There always seem to be a lot of people writing there, too!

Me (Rachel) and my boyfriend Eric (also writing a NaNo novel) will be there by 7:00 PM and will put up a table tent. There aren't many big tables at BNG, but there will hopefully be clusters of tables close to each other so we can all write together.

The café closes at midnight. Feel free to arrive early and put up your own table tent!

Time is flexible at the moment, so please chime in with what time you think would be best. I've called Weeksies and they say late afternoon is a great time to accomodate us. So perhaps 3pm-6pm.

If the kickoff wants to continue later we can probably stay, or we might want to consider relocating to Panera closer to the middle of Dover.

Good morning and happy Friday! Anyone have big plans for the weekend? Will you be able to devote a lot of time to writing, or will you be even busier than usual?

I did about 1200 this morning - now at 15,572. My goal for the day is 16,667 because that will mean I'm officially an extra day ahead. ;)

I Give Up (Genre Change!)

On the original idea. It was going absolutely nowhere. There was no plot, not even a shred, even after 6000 words. So I ditched it.

New idea: Well, not new. Had the idea a while ago, gathered some notes, characters, plotlines, snippets, and it just sat there. But when I looked at it again, it started coming together much better. So, I jump from fantasy to murder mystery. But at least I'm pretty darn sure I can write this one! Got a good start on it today- I'm at 8763. Yeah, that is the word count on the new one, not in addition to what I'd written on the first idea. I feel better about this year's NaNo now.

Happy Wednesday! I just made my goal for the day (2k words for 12k total) by 7 am. Yay! I write best in the morning, so if I don't get to my goal before work, I often just won't. I wish I could keep going, but I have to get ready for work. Darn job...

Concord kick-off and write-ins

Hi Nanos

Borders in Concord will offer their space and wifi free of charge, but it’s too late for them to add our group to their events calendar. No big whoop there.

We can meet in the café area or in the back of the store where they provide chairs to us.

The only caveat is that the weekends are their busy time, so we might not have peace in which to write.

I’d like to set this up for a kick-off on Sunday the 1st and subsequent write-ins every Tuesday evening from 5-8.

Can I get a quick show of hands on who might be interested in meeting at Borders?

Good morning! How's everyone doing today? I just hit 7116, so I'm happy because my goal for the day was 7100. (Yesterday + 2000 rounded up to the next hundred.) Except I just realized that I don't know anything about cheerleading, and I have cheerleaders in my plot. Oh well. :)

Hi everyone! I'm a dual citizen (live in MA, work in NH) and my hometown just got a new library! I'm going to be there Nov. 4 in the evening (around 6 or 7) to get some words out. Anyone is welcome to join me! I have some buttons from last year's Nano so there will be freebies!!

I'm going to stop by the library tonight and make sure this is all okay (and whether or not we can bring in beverages).

I hope some of you will join me!

Write Ins for those of us living North of Concord?

I would love to be able to attend write ins this year, but a lot of times the locations/times are just too far for me to travel. I live in Campton which is on the southern edge of the White Mountains.

Anyway my mother is the director of the Effingham Public Library http://effingham.lib.nh.us/index.html and when I have a Saturday off from work I tend to visit her and hang out at the library... it's hopefully a nice six hour chunk of time for me to get writing done (especially durning Nano!) I'm planning to be there Saturday the 7th. Is there anyone who would like to join for all of part of the day?
