I am just curious if anyone out there is from this area. I live out in the middle of nowhere on a mountain side. In fact I don't live in either towns mentioned above. I just have a Bakersville address. Not born here just moved here under some crazy circumstances. So give a shout out if you just happen to live in the area.

Triad-Area Writers UNITE!

Hey there everybody!

Well, last year, there were about half a dozen triad-area writers that agreed to meet at Barnes and Noble, or Starbucks, or wherever about once a week during NaNoWriMo. We also met once or twice before, I believe. I was just wondering if anyone from around here is doing NaNo this year, or am I alone? :p

It might be kind of fun to try and set up a time to meet at the Barnes and Noble in Winston-Salem, or maybe Foothills Juice and Java in King, in late October. I'm going to be out of town from the 25th-30th, so it would be great if we could meet before then... say, the 24th :p

I tried the whole meet at the coffee shop deal for the Clevland County place, and i'm the only person who showed up lol. So anyways, I was wondering if anyone is in my area, that could meet up sometime soon just to discuss and perhaps plot out some stuff, help with storylines, and overall just have like some kind of support group I assume? lol.

Let me know if you're interested, or even in the area. Support is the key I think.

What happened to my Character?

So, first morning in - have a little over 5,000 words so far - and one of my characters has totally gone somewhere I had not planned. Had an outline, had a plan, had the "time and placed" mentally mapped out - for naught. The characted just up and decided halfway through a conversation to go somewhere else.

Cleveland county-Kings Mountain

Hi there NaNo's!

My name is Aimee and I'll be holding a write-up twice a week in Kings Mountain, NC. The times are every Monday and Thursday night from 7pm until your fingers fall off (although, the coffee shop closes at 10). Each meeting, we'll briefly discuss a topic on craft, then either WRITE or chat--it's up to you. At each meeting, I'll have handouts and worksheets that will help you on your way towards winning.

The first two evenings--the 2nd and the 5th--will cover plot and subplot.

On the 9th and 12th we'll talk about world building and character arcs.

Then, on the 16th and 19th, we'll look at subtext and pacing.

On the 23rd, we'll cover a lovely little thing called climax--then shoot towards denouement.

Of course, the 26th is turkey day, so there won't be a meeting that night.

But on the 30th, if you're not heading to another "Thank God it's Over" party, join us again. We'll wrap it up and talk about revision!
