Synopsis: Dalton Rising

The novel takes place in the years leading up to the Easter Rising of 1916, a rebellion staged in Dublin by Irish nationalists against the British forces occupying Ireland at the time. At the center of the story is Dalton, a teenager who has been raised by his British uncle and knows nothing of his native country and the Irish people's long and bloody struggle for independence. During the novel he learns the history and patriotism of the Irish people, and he moves to Dublin around the same time the Easter Rising is being planned. Along the way he also falls in love with Molly, the daughter of the man responsible for introducing him to the world of Irish nationalism. Molly is openly opposed to armed conflict, and Dalton must decide if he is willing to risk his relationship with her in order to take up arms and fight alongside his newly found countrymen.
