What movies wold you recommend I add to my Netflix que so I could see Victorian clothes (1870/80's-ish period) ? Any movies with scenes of dressing, clothes making, and lower as well as upper class clothes. I really want to see how people moved in those outfits. Thanks!

Not necessarily a movie - but you should check out the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series that PBS ran on Mystery several years ago - it's available on DVD and right for the time period - not to mention fun for mystery fans! You might also wish to check out some costume books from the library - they're often a lot more accurate than Hollywood!

Okay so it is not a movie - but if you can get to your library (maybe a national library) or university/college library.....look for a book called "Patterns of Fashion" and "Patterns of Fashion 2" They have sketches of what women wore from the 1600's right through till 1940/1950's with patterns from womens magazines etc. There is a mix of Walking dresses, evening dresses, day dresses, afternoon tea dresses etc. I recommend that you look at them

I really loved the 2005 (?) BBC production of Bleak House (with Anna Maxwell Scott and Gillian Anderson) - their historical accuracy, I thought, was superb. BH takes place in the 1850s so may be a bit earlier than you want though.
Also if you can get any Godey's Lady's Books (there are some good sites about GLB if you Google) they are really good sources too.

I'd go with "Oliver" and/or "Wuthering Heights" mostly because I love the stories (though I heard the Wuthering Heights film fell away from the book).

It's been awhile since I saw it, but I think there's a pretty good range of Victorian clothing styles in the reality show "Manor House" (BBC). I remember the maid helping the "lady of the house" dress in "the new Paris fashion" in one episode.
