Hey all! /waves/ This is my first NaNo in East Bay and I'm really unfamiliar with any area other than downtown Berkeley.

I live near the Ashby BART (just over the border in Oakland, closer to Adeline/Alcatraz) and travel is difficult for me so I'd like to find a place to write walking distance from home. It seems all the write ins would require me to drive/bus/BART so I'm hoping for at least a rec for a place to go and maybe even a neighborly person who'd like to meet up and do a mini write in.

The weird part? In all my years of NaNo I've never gone to an event. Today I crossed over 50K (yay!) so you'd think I wouldn't need to, but I realized a few days back my novel's going to be about 100K so it freaks me out that I've written 50K and now I have to do it all over again. EEP.

So I'm looking to renew my commitment, look for ways to rejuvenate my quest and maybe get out of the house before daylight dries up for the winter. ;-)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and good luck everyone!

Hi, EmmaDeMarais,

If you live close to Ashby BART, you live close to Spud's, which is located at exactly the intersection of Adeline/Alcatraz, and which is where one of today's East Bay write-ins will be -- yeah! So you can walk somewhere to write AND have that somewhere be a spot where other folks will be writing for NaNoWriMo -- hooray!

I'm going to try to get to Spud's today, too, but probably not til 5 or 6pm . . .

Congratulations on passing the 50K mark already, and happy writing!
