Title: Zombie Dawn (I have come to hate the title, though, so expect it to change eventually)

Length: 50,095 at the moment, projected to be 60,000-75,000
Draft: First one. Very, very rough
Language: American. I guess that counts as English

Brief Summary:
Megan Smith believes that her life is as boring as her name. She is always on a quest for the interesting, whether that means befriending the strange kids at school, constantly daydreaming, or sneaking out of her West Hollywood house at night. However, everything changes when she meets Trent Mahame, a new student from Haiti who is as complacent as Megan is active. Yet while a strange friendship between the two grows, Megan is thrown into a world that is beyond her wildest dreams. Together with Trent, an Irish vampire, a witch in a top hat, a hippie addicted to henna, and an English teacher who has secrets of her own, Megan is forced to track down a supernatural killer and discover that perhaps boring was not all that bad after all.

Sub Genre - Well, it was supposed to be a zombie/schoolgirl romance in the strain of twilight, but ended up more like alternating between a romantic comedy and a murder mystery, with supernatural forces and a kind of Neil Gaiman feel to it (Although I might be flattering myself there).

Keywords - Zombies, Vampires, Voodoo, Obviously awesome people who think they aren't awesome, Death, Murder, Cheating death, Teen romance, Comedy, and Misunderstood English teachers

Known Issues - Lack of contractions, scenes that dangle off in nowhere land, name and eye color changes through the course of the story, and some kind of messy exposition. I have skimmed over it, but really I just typed it all out in a flurry.

Critique Requested - I don't really need grammar critiques, I can do that myself. However, I would like everything else, focusing mostly on character development and whether it all makes sense. Also, I think I might need some critique regarding the romance parts, because this is supposed to be a romance novel.

Critique Tolerance - If you tell me that I am the worst writer on the face of the planet and I should curl up under a rock and die, I will be fine with it as long as you give me a reason that you think that. If you just say that, without any specifics, I am not going to be happy. Also, please avoid just saying, "It's good." Since you are all writers here, I figure you understand how frustrating that is.

Experience & Goals - This is my third Nano, the only one I've ever won with, and the most words I've ever written on a single story. If I finish it, it will be my first finished novel ever, and I fully intend for that to happen. Also, I would like to get it publishable, hopefully.

Method of Communication - e-mail: lollygal@hotmail.com

Disclaimers - Gross murder, Gothic posers, a four letter word every 20,000 words or so, and a lesbian subplot.

That sounds a lot like my story, except the genders are reversed. So naturally I'm interested in reading it.

I'm a little shy about sharing my own writing, but maybe we could start out by swapping first chapters to see if we want to continue reading?

Hey, can I read it even without a swap? It just seems awesome. I think you got me at 'witch in top hat,' and 'hippie addicted to henna' which I am, at the same time, and then... Zombies, and comedy, and mystery. And even if it isn't like Neil Gaiman, the idea that you think that that would be a good thing is a good thing in and of itself! Email me, kc2nen@earthlink.net
