Brief Author Bio: The first time I thought I might try NaNoWriMo was actually in 2004. But I told myself that I didn't want to sign up for something I knew I wouldn't finish. I wrote three thousand words and had given up after the first week. Since then, I have learned the strategery of NaNoWriMo, and I've won every year. I think Val would accuse me of cheating, but I've used the same characters every year. That's a total of three NaNoWriMo novels which used the same characters, and I had told the whole story. I thought I was going to be taking the Actuary exam this november (and I sorely rued that prediction, as it prevented me from doing NaNoWriMo this year), but Hurricanes Gustav and Ike changed that, and so I'll be able to play this year. For that Novel in the middle, I think I may have told the wrong story--partly because my narrator was in a bad place to tell the story, but by a construction introduced in the third book, I've realized that I can go back to that second book and tell the right story. So this year, I will be telling the right story. That second story--poof--gone, except for a few key events in the outline. And I'm starting over from scratch on it. Next November, I am getting married, and as a result of that, and the ensuing honeymoon and great migration of my stuff to my fiance's apartment. I don't think I'll be able to play. But we'll see. |

Synopsis: The Six-point Array
Setting Lore:
Many Years ago, when Arthur kept court at Camelot and Cardigan, Satan knew that Arthur would be the greatest beacon in all of Christendom. And so he beguiled Arthur's bitter and angry sister, Morgan le Faye to help him bring down that light. Satan taught Morgan le Faye evil magic and Arthur was imprisoned to watch his holy kingdom decay into all of the moral evils of the ones who siezed his throne, his bastard sun by his sister.
God saw this evil, and Merlin was born some time far, far in the future, to walk backward through time, and bring the good magic into the world to do battle with it. Merlin has been teaching the magic to the sons of Christendom, and spreading learning and knowledge in all of his days. Morgan le Faye imprisoned him in tree, some time between the years 945 and 1066, there to remain until an Angel of the Lord set him free, and said it was time for him to be about his work of restoring the Christendom of Arthur and Britain. And while Merlin failed to restore Arthur to the throne, he succeeded in restoring his legacy as holy and ancient ruler of the Britons.
Synopsis of The Black Cathedral (which precedes this year's novel):
The last thing Bernadette remembers was leaving the train station for the University at Cardigan Keep, where she planned to study magic. That was two years ago. She had a strange dream about a woman and a minotaur who were doing something to her when she was abruptly rescued. When she wakes, she does not recognize any of this group of people who claim to be her friends. Can she really trust them? She soon finds that she has no choice as Zarychta--the witch--knew where to find them, and she mounts an assault on Malachi D'Orberjan's home, and the group must run for their lives. She pursues them for Bernadette, and she means to finish the ritual she started.
------You need that information to understand this year's novel-----
Synopsis of The Six-Point Array
When a posessed Cardinal drops dead at the feet of the Pope, Malachi and Tristan aid in the investigation. How did he die? Why did he make his attempt on the life of the pontiff when there were two priests, three wizards and a Jesuit Paladin there to stop him? At the center of it all is a strange six pointed transmutation array which was scarred into the Cardinal's corpse, and a curious new ability which his death revealed in Bernadette.
