Synopsis: The Merchant's Nephew

Maria Gifford has been leading an unexceptionable life as the daughter of a minor noble near Harrogate when she learns the uncle she thought was dead is very much alive and a rich nabob into the bargain. When it becomes apparent that her existence is about to undergo major changes she is faced with the question: what would she do in order to have control of her own destiny?
