Joe Dawson had lived an unremarkable life, so one day he simply decided to leave it all behind. He took his dog, took at boat to Japan, thinking this would be the start of something new - only to be tricked into joining a visiting alien on her crazy space trip.

“Bring me some coffee, and tea for Misigno. And, ask 'Joe' whatever he might like, and have him meet me in my office... no, the library. Or should I use the office?” He looked at the girl, who had started to get a bit confused by now. “Where do you think I will look most impressive?” he asked. “I suppose in the library you get that sophisticated thing going on, but in an office you can always pretend to answer the phone and seem a bit more unavailable. I wonder what would impress him the most. What do you think?”
“I, um, think...” the girl started, but did not really know what to say.
“I do like that library though”, The Puppet Master reasoned on. “You know what, here's what we'll do, bring coffee and tea and whatever Joe likes, and a phone to the library, and have someone call me from time to time so I can look a bit unavailable there. Yeah, that's how we'll do it.”
And with those words, he left her, constantly stroking his ferret.
