Excerpt: No Title Thus Far
Stumbling through the field of thorns, I turn and look behind me. I knew I shouldn’t have looked back, but it was as if an unseen force compelled me. Then I saw him, Brett, the man I have loved for so long, but am not able to have. I try to navigate back to him, he is waiting for me, but I can’t make it through the thorns. The branches reach out and grab me making it impossible to escape. He calls my name and I reach out my hand to him, but we are forever separated. As I begin to despair, the soil turns to quicksand and I am sucked down, spiraling into the unknown. With a soft “pop” I am spewed into the rough terrain of what I can only describe as my own personal hell. Shivering I look around at the world around me. It is bitterly cold here. The rocky terrain looks impossible to navigate and a dense fog surrounds everything. A maelstrom of shadows suddenly surround me, whispering furiously and everything becomes clear. I must get back to my love.
