Synopsis: working title: Meadow River Tale
Historical novel set on the fronter of western Virgina (now West Virginia) centering on the life of Jane Wallis, wife and mother of four. 1795 turns out to be a turbulent year for Jane's family, including deaths, births, and marriages. Sub-plots include the romantic entanglements of the settlement's young people, one of which leads to tragedy. Amid it all the settlers continue to tame the wilderness around them, building a new country in the process. Though there are some references to the political and economic uncertainties of living in post-Revolutionary America, at heart, Meadow River Tale is about how Jane and her family face the challenges of life.
