Synopsis: And All that Ice
Annie Levine is a young girl living in Niagara Falls in the winter of 1911. An extraordinary event is undergoing in Niagara--the falls seem to be completely frozen! Like others, Annie is drawn to the beauty of all that ice. But it seems that the falls have a darker and deeper past, and without knowing it, Annie is in the middle of it all.
Excerpt: And All that Ice
She reached a hand out to me, under the ice. I shuddered, but from the cold, not from the fear. This woman was incredibly beautiful. And she was stuck under the ice. She wasn’t from this world. She hadn’t known how she got here, I was sure. Anne, it called out. Annie.
I couldn’t, I shouldn’t. This woman should be dead, if she were frozen in the ice that was once Niagara. This woman—or creature, for right now I didn’t think of her as a human being—couldn’t possibly be moving underneath the ice, as if it were water?
She looked horribly cold.
“Annie?” she mouthed. “Annie!”
I pressed a hand against the ice. For some reason it felt terribly hot. She pressed a hand against her side. I felt myself go hot with fear and hatred. I tried to pull my hand away, but I couldn’t.
“HELP!”
The she-creature smiled, a smile of evil malice, and then all went cold and dark. Terribly dark.
