Excerpt: Untitled
It was Samhain, time to celebrate the end of the harvest, time to honor the ancestors and those recently passed from this life. It was a time for divination – and sometimes for speaking with the dead.
That was Kat Sullivan’s hope this night. She had questions for her grandmother, but her questions would wait. Now, she walked the circle with more than a dozen others as leaves glowed bronze and gold in the torch light and crunched underfoot to create a rhythmic backdrop to the simple verse they chanted to the elements: earth, air, fire, and water. She stopped at the large boulder in the north, reaching out and touching it, letting its cool grayness seep into her and calm her nerves.
