Synopsis: Prismatic Redux
This is the tale...
...of Dr. Julien Trevelyan, a twenty-something mad scientist trying to gain her own measure of respect from any colleagues she can find;
...of Michael Cruz (alias Mikkau Demark), a similarly aged secret agent type who is mostly trying not to die after getting caught up in events, with the frequent help of sarcasm as an adjustive stress reaction;
...of Tobias Aligheri, the head of the Magometry Research Agency, and thus supervisor of both Mikkau in fact and Julien in theory;
...of Professor Sterling Donovan, a normally pretty sane mad scientist who has suddenly gone off of the deep end under mysterious circumstances;
...and of Mona Riwon, his second-in-command who seems to have as little idea about Sterling's motivations as anyone else.
It's also the tale of library guys, dozens of minor characters, J. Random Townsperson, far too many shout outs to a large variety of things, tomes of eldritch lore, mechanical abominations from beyond known time, moons exploding, Metal Gear?!...
As well as that of the author, whose main focus seems to also be not dying, and will probably have to resort to sarcasm about as often as Mikkau--if not more so.
