Excerpt: Lenore

~Captured~

My arms were tied so tightly above my head that I had long ago lost feeling in them. But that was among the least of my concerns. I hadn’t had any of my blood taken in well over a week. Had I known that I would end up in this position I would have made sure I had drained a bit before I took off on this ridiculous adventure.
I was in agony. My blood was like fire in my veins, itching and scratching to break free of my skin. Perhaps if I could get them to whip me I’d loose a bit of blood.
Before I could get very far along that line of reasoning, I heard a strange scratching at the door, and in the next moment Auguste had burst into the room. He was before me in a matter of seconds.
“Lenore, my darling, what has happened to you?” He asked with concern.
“Oh, you know… I always find ways to get myself into trouble.” He seemed unamused at my flip attitude. He began to try to loosen my bound hands but I couldn’t wait for him to finish. “I hate to be blunt, but I have a more pressing concern than my hands at the moment”
“Your blood, I know – I can almost taste it”
“Please” I uttered, and he knew what I meant.
Auguste lunged forward and sunk his teeth into my neck before I could say, do, or even think anything else. I was so eager for his bite that I didn’t even feel the usual momentary discomfort. All I felt was pure ecstasy at the release I had been craving for so long. Waves of pleasure coursed through my whole body, and I knew he could feel it too. I felt his body harden against mine, and I wished with all my being that we were anywhere else so that we had the time we needed to finish what we were starting.
Auguste must have read my mind, because at that moment he broke away and tried to collect himself. He went back to untying my hands, trying not to meet my eyes, even though we were still so close together.
Trying to move my arms caused excruciating pain, and it was all I could do not to scream. It would be a while before I could use them, or move with much coordination. My legs too, it seemed, would not cooperate. My clothes had seen better days and would definitely get me looks on the street. Auguste noticed this and without words wrapped me in his coat and picked me up.
“We need to get out of here quickly before anyone notices what’s going on. I’m not up to fighting them all off at once and protecting you at the same time.”
“Sorry I can’t be of more help – I’ll make it up to you later” I said, and winked. Even at this precarious moment I saw the beginnings of a smile before he rolled his eyes at another of my teasing remarks. Of course, I would like for it to be more than a tease, but he saw to it that things never went too far. It was incredibly frustrating, but also in a way exciting.
