Synopsis: My Life as a Teenage Werewolf

DJ Dawkins is a normal kid with normal kid problems: a bully that won't get off his back, a girl he likes who is dating said bully, forgetfulness, and a brother who pushes him around. But, his problems soon change when he's attacked - by a werewolf! Now he not only has to get through life as a teenager, but also as a creature of supernatural proportions. His priorities have changed. First, he has to learn to control his inner wolf. Then, he must face his child hood nemesis in a battle he will never forget. And finally, he has to rescue the girl of his dreams from a maniac doctor out to "cure her." Does DJ have what it takes to be a werewolf?

Excerpt: My Life as a Teenage Werewolf

As we walked to her house, Kelly seemed a bit on edge.

“You okay?” I asked.

“Huh?” she said. She was obviously distracted and she kept looking up at the sky.

I looked up and stared at the full moon.

“The moon looks great. I’ve never seen it this bright before,” I said, trying to break her out of her distraction.

“…I guess,” she said, not really sounding convinced.

I didn’t know what else to say. She looked like she wanted to run all the way home. How was I supposed to bring her out of it? So, I stayed quiet the rest of the way to her house. By this time, for some reason, I felt like we were being watched.

We got to her door and I started to panic. Should I kiss her? I didn’t think so since I didn’t think it was really a date.

“Thanks for walking me,” she said.

“Not a problem. It was my duty as a host to make sure you got here okay,” I said, trying to be funny. It wasn’t getting to her.

“See ya on Monday,” she said. Then, she opened her door with her key and went inside without saying a word.

I was left standing outside wondering what I had done wrong. Did my breath stink? Did I offend her? Was I a complete moron or something?

While I thought about all that, I started walking back to my house. My eyes were on the ground so I didn’t really see anything in front of me. I only noticed that something big was in my way when I heard the growling. When I looked up, I saw what it was: a huge, ferocious wolf!
