Excerpt: The Eternal Fight

Rosa felt like she wanted to cry for the first time in her life. Before this point her life had never been that remarkable. She'd been average in everything.
"I saw you collating last year's report--why are you doing that?"
"I was told to, sir. I thought you needed it."
"Don't waste company time. I need you to fix this report now. How are we going to discuss the expenses with the holiday season coming around the corner, if you are wasting time doing last year's report?"
"I'm sorry, sir, I'll fix the errors, right away!"
"No need. Go home. I'll do it myself. Send me the file."
Rosa nodded and left the office. She sent the report through e-mail, gathered her keys and went on her way home. She heard as she went out, "Deserves her right-- who does she think she is?"
Not knowing how to react, she out in her car and drove home. She felt a little sick from her day at work. A headache formed. She took a shower. After the shower swallowed some aspirin.
It was shopping night--she needed to get some food but finding none in her cupboard, she collapsed on her bed.
She lay down on her bed, her hair still clinging to her. The distant roar of the sirens filled her bedroom. When she was finally asleep, she woke up to a light at the end of her bed. It was pulling her in. She tried to move, but found her body stuck. She couldn't understand why she was being pulled in. She was only an office worker. Was it aliens. Before she could answer those questions she was pulled into the light.
