Synopsis: No Beautiful Thing

Sam's world is filled with fantasy and wonder. He attends to countless heroes and villains, and all of them have their rightful place between the covers of the books he binds. He is more than glad to see the books finished and shelved. The real world has enough of it's own concerns: it's heroes are unsung, and it's villains more often wield the laws than break them. Plus, there's the matter of Mills, who has been dropping not so subtle hints of marriage just as his practice is beginning to take off. Perhaps, if Sam had not thought that things could not get any more troublesome, all might have been well.

But that's when the commission from the Office of Letters began to blur the lines between the problems of his own world with those bound inside the books.
