Sara is a seventeen year old senior dreading the changes that are coming as her senior year ends. She's just made a major mistake that could cost her boyfriend a scholarship.
I've kind of cheated with nano. I had 61,000 words written when it started -- my nano WC is just what I've written since November 1st. I was going on a good clip for a couple of weeks, but funny, since nano started, I seem to be stalled.

As usual you're doing something uber cool and I have to thank you!
So, one of my characters rescued a kitten from a ditch as he was being tormented by some crab (if you live in the Florida Keys you know what I am talkig about)! She helped shave him down and get him stitched up. She now has a job at the vet's office and her guardian is falling in love with the vet. Not bad as the vet was going to be an NPC until she decided otherwise.

This is a great thread!! -- Fun to just read through and see what all is happening with everyone's novel -- so here's what's going on in mine currently:
Skat, the young boy with the flying carpet, had a worm cut out of him in chapter three by a healer ("doctors" who are bent on re-using their patients' body parts for darker purposes...), and after having the worm inside of him, he now has an ability to appear in other places in his dreams -- being in two physical places in the desert at once essentially.
ANYWAY, after they escaped from the children of the Sphinx, Skat fell asleep, and now he has found himself on the Triple Peaks where the Manticore lives. He can't seem to wake up, and he's watching the Manticore from behind as it licks up the last bits of blood off a bone. Meanwhile, Nihal, the wanderer, is trying to wake him up -- and watching as Skat draws in the dust what he sees in his dream -- while he's asleep.
Convoluted, I know. Fun, I know.

My character is Harlow. She's 16 and her parents have just announced that they're getting divorced because her mother had met a man that understands her needs at this time in her life. If all that information wasn't bad enough, Harlow's mother is moving with the man to his homeland, the Czech Republic, and she is taking Harlow with them!
