Hi guys
My MC is going to get a marriage proposal from someone she only knows slightly. He says he is madly in love with her but I would like there to be an ulterior motive. Can anyone think of a good one? I don't want it to be to stay in the country as that is too cliched. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

He has a rare medical condition and needs good insurance?
His family thinks he's gay and if he gets married they will get off his back?
He needs to get out of the country, if even for short time until ? cools down, so a honey moon to the Bahamas would be great?
He is going bankrupt and thinks her stable job/income can save him from the impending disaster...and he can still save face?
He is co-dependent and now that his ex moved out or his mom died or his grandma kicked him out of the house, he's afraid to grow up and do it on his own?
He's a junkie and she's a pharmaceutical rep/doctor/pharmacist and he thinks he can get some free drugs to support his habit?
Just a few off the top of my head. Hope something clicks and you find what you are looking for. Ooodles of luck.
Warm fuzzies~ lex

1. He got someone else pregnant and wants to escape marrying her.
2. The old "inheritance doesn't kick in unless he's married by age X ". Then, he'll try to kill her to keep all the money to himself.
3. He's applied for his dream job, but they want someone with a stable married life

Thanks for all those thoughts - I like the idea that it's to avoid marrying someone else but not because they are pregnant perhaps for some other reason more intrguing - I'll have to work on that! Thanks again and good luck to you too.
