In my desperate attempt to reach word count quotas, my characters are going off on a holiday tangent. They're going all out for Thanksgiving. All the traditional trimmings.
I'd love to hear everyone's favorite Bible verses or hymns or blessings or prayers or anything, really, that could be quoted at Thanksgiving. I've been looking stuff up myself, and finding some stuff, but could use more. If you know any really good ones that don't actually pertain to a harvest, that'd be great too ... my characters are on a space station and it sounds just a bit odd to be singing about the earth or plowing the fields, and all. I'd like to mix up the harvest blessings with some other ones.
Any and all ideas appreciated!

in our family, we all take turns telling what we are thankful for...it is interesting sometimes, and always emotional.

I know we are done with NaNo, but if it helps in the rewrites, our family has the little kids make up and say a dinner prayer with no adult prompting. This year it was the two 7 year old cousins. So if you have any space kids, it could work. Incidentally, my 1st grader made a thanksgiving card that said, "Mom and Dad, I am thankful for my new shoes and all of the love." So, something that could be fun to tap into and can include anything from the last trip to Mc Donalds right down to the dead gold fish. And maybe, just maybe, could be used to impart info that otherwise feels awkward.
Good luck. Lex

It definitely still helps!
That's a good idea, to have them say what they are thankful for, and do impromptu prayers. It's a large group so I'd have to narrow it down a bit... but could work.
I think that part is going to end up a stand-alone short story, and I haven't really figured out the point of it all ... the characters just ran away with the manuscript in an effort to rescue my word count. I love those guys. They're way cooler than the folks who were supposed to be in my novel. LOL.
