Here's the deal:

We've written 50K, but we know our stories are not over--in fact they're just beginning. So in a team effort to actually *finish* our NaNo stories for once, we are going to keep NaNo going until the end of December when we will hit 100K.

100K is a more realistic number of words for a publishable novel, anyway.

So, if you're serious about finishing your story and your first draft, and would like some team motivation to keep writing for another month, please join us!

Add me as a buddy or nanomail me and we'll keep the momentum going for another month!

That sounds like a plan!
I don't have much to do during December, so I guess I can spend time refining my novel. I'm expecting it to be over by 60k-ish words though. D:

I love this idea.

I SO am not finished my novel! In fact I am not quite even at the halfway point. And I'd love to join in with a group to help keep up the motivation....!!

I wish NaNo would never end.! It seems like it was just yesterday I was chomping at the bit waiting for November 1st.!

Count me in. Yes, even with Christmas and a basement renovation on the schedule for the month (hubby won't let me do anything productive with it anyway....so....yeah!)

I'll think about it...lol

I was really considering not touching it at all during December and just waiting until January to. Buuuut, I'm not going to try to even finish the novel within 50k, it will probably be more like 75k+. Soo....I'll think about it. lemme get through this 50 first. XD

I'm definately in! I actually did two novels this year, so the one I actually want to finish is only around 30k. In the long run I probably would have used this as an excuse to abandon it, but both I and my friends want me to finish it completely.

Definately. It took 47k just to get them to the place where they need to go to get their missions and such! My characters and my muse demand more!

I added you as a buddy although, as you can see, I am down on my word count because of unforeseeable tiredness.

But I hope to get the novel finished by the end of the year.

What is everyone else's plans for their work? Do they you just want to count it as done or does anyone want to see it live on after this?

I might, but since there's some stuff going on in December that will likely keep me from writing at all for a bit, I may wait until January.

If I can't get my set of five novellas to spread over 100k (which is very easily possible since I've been storming through the plots and I could add a lot more, plus I need to finish all my plots and add in where I skipped) I'll just think of something else to work on.

I'm moving in December and I have finals and I want to actually spend some time with the friends I neglected this month ... but... well, if I don't procrastinate, that's still just 1,667 words a day, and it's worth a try... >>

I'm in! I just added you. I will hit 50k today. Then I am all set to head to 100k. My story is in a odd place right now but no where near to being done. Very exciting this is. If I finish today it will give me a day to go back and edit what I already have and touch it up some before I go on. See you on December 1st everyone. :-)

Oh goodie! I get to drop by occasionally and root you onward!
Great thread to start Danielle. What you will have done at the end of December 31st is begun a writing community that you will remember forever!

Although the gist of the thread includes NaNo Winners, I'm sure those of you who didn't make the word count of 50K are still welcomed to work on your stories in the midst of this writing community. Any writing is good writing.

See you around!!

Great idea! I'm 100% in on this. I had that as my own personal goal anyway since I feel as though I'm half way through my novel. Having a small community for motivation is definitely what I needed :)

I just have to get through the next two weeks of exams first >.> ugh.

Ok! I'm excited by the number of people who want to keep fighting the good fight for another month!

It turns out that the forums will still be active in Dec (good) but that the word count shuts off 1 Dec (not good).

So, as a work around, I've posted a very simple Google Docs spreadsheet where we can track our word counts collectively. There's no pretty colored bars, but I think it will get the job done... i.e. it will motivate me to write more when I see all your skyrocketing word counts!

Right now it requires a log-in to edit, so if you want to NaNoMail me your email address, I can send you the invite for the spreadsheet. If you're uncomfortable giving me your email address, NaNoMail me anyway and maybe we can find a work-around.

Also, I was thinking of putting together an email list of us December writing bandits, so we can motivate each other via email as well.

I'm so glad to be beginning another part of the journey.

I totally agree!!! In fact, I was just telling my friend that I am at 50k and not even near half done. So 100k might not do it for me, but I'm still going to join in. I want to get this done!! And hopefully I will be able to get another 50k by the end of December. A question though, does anybody who is going to do this want to communicate through msn or email? If you do, my msn/email is (i made a special one for nano, so I don't get my friends talking to me all the time when I'm trying to write) is mynanowrimo@hotmail.com. Add me if you're in!! Otherwise I'm fine with nanomail!

Not even half way there yet for me:P I was planning on continuing anyways so count me in. Great idea about the spreadsheet.
I'm not sure if I'll do the full 100k cause really my goal is just to finish it completely.
Thanks for creating the thread *goes off to nanomail*

Hey! Wow it's awesome to see so many others who have the same goal. That alone is highly motivating :D

I thought I'd mention, I found this site somewhere in the forums here (forgive me, I can't remember where it was originally posted) http://grou.ps/dreamwriters/home They're dedicated to continuing with Nano-like goals through the year. In particular they have another 50k in a month challenge. I signed up as Melamin there too, figuring I need as much motivation from fellow writers as possible! So if you decide to join, feel free to add me :)

Oh man! I'm glad other people aren't finished with their story and it's not just me. :)
I'm just over the hill plot-wise, so count me in. But December is a lot busier then November for me, so my main goal is to just finish my novel by the 31st.
See you there everybody!

As some of you can see, I've had quite a few setbacks throughout November that stopped me from making it to the 50K. But I'd really like to continue throughout December and finish befor ethe end of the year. It'll be hard for me to find time in December, but I want to find the time to make up for the setbacks this month. I doubt mine will reach to 100K, but that's okay. I just want to finish it. *goes off to NaNoMail*

I definitely plan to keep my writing going through December in hopes of finishing this thing. I don't know how many 10's of thousands of words that will take. Are you familiar with the December National Novel Finishing Month challenge? I will check back here as well, but you might be interested in trying that:
http://www.nanofimo.org/

It is, admittedly, a *mere* 30,000 more words.

Sure, why not. I don't know if I have enough material to get me to 100k, but it's at least worth a shot.

I managed to change plots midstream this year (which, hopefully, will turn out for the better) and I'll definitely need the extra motivation to finish the story properly!
