Ok, I failed to finish... *sigh*
My excuses are:
1. My wife is pregnant (yay!) but has had hyperemesis gravidarum and has been admitted to hospital twice (boo!).
2. My in-laws have stayed the whole month.
3. I'm UCAS coordinator at school... have had to edit 75 personal statements for university applications...
4. I'm playing violin in a school show... lots of rehearsals!
5. I'm best man at a wedding, and I've had to arrange stag stuff...
6. I'm a secondary school English teacher!
7. November is a relatively short month...
8. I've spent too much time on the forums, chatting, and finding buddies.
9. I've spent too much time reading Woolf and Atwood...
10. I only discovered what I really wanted to write about halfway through the month!
Anyway... I will finish over the Xmas holidays! Congratulations to all you winners! I'll be back next year, better prepared... but with a baby... uh oh... it's looking unlikely I'll finish next year either!
Anyone else need to share excuses? Or did you ALL finish? God, I feel so humble... x x x

Don't feel bad about this; you have some really valid excuses, any one of which would have served. Well, maybe not number 6, and certainly not number 7, or 8. Or 9 actually . . . And regarding excuse number 10, well, I should suggest that you start writing a novel utilizing at least the events in excuse number 2! And excuse numbers 3, 4, 5, and 6 come to think of it, should also provide some fertile material. Course, you're going to be having your own fertile material shortly, aren't you? Congratulations to you and your wife! I don't know what is the condition you mention there, but if she's been in hospital twice and you've had the in-laws to stay all month, it must be serious. I wish you both good health and a healthy baby who sleeps through the night.

I'm pretty sure hyperemesis gravidum is when you have really severe morning (noon, and night) sickness throughout your whole pregnancy, and it causes severe dehydration, which would call for an IV for fluids, explaining the hospital visits... Am I right? Sorry to hear that your wife is struggling with her pregnancy, I'm sure that's the biggest reason you didn't finish, but best of luck wrapping it up in the next month. I'd still love to swap segments! Hope to hear from you soon.

Congratulations on your impending baby and hope your wife's pregnancy gets better. At least you have some good excuses to not finish. I am only working part time so this year was the best year for me to do Nano, the last few years I was in college and working. So really if I didn't do it this year, there was no hope for me :)
Still I would like to make it as close as poss to 60,000 tonite, so I still feel like I am not finished.

Oh, I'm gonna make it. The problem is, the novel itself won't be concluded at fifty thousand words. I'm like, just getting to the character that's gonna rock her world... Or ruin it further.
We'll see how I'm feeling.

Congrats on the incipient bundle of joy!
I got 50k but didn't actually accomplish my goal of 50 stories. The only reason is that I just plain suck. I also couldn't really focus in general: I started a new job that wants to hire me full-time now, and had a play that opened on the last weekend of NaNo!
Now that I have an inkling on how I want to approach the story-telling, though, I can get to serious work on this series! I'm quite excited ^^ I'm a bit worried about the length of each story, since they might vary depending on the story, but we'll see how it builds as I outline it all!
