Last minute question!
I know this is kind of morbid, but I need to know!
Would a bullet to the heart kill you instantly in all cases, or might you have a few moments for some final words?
Second question: Say someone was just killed in your house, but you can't call the police for some reason. However, you don't want to do something stupid and obvious like bury the body in your backyard. Who should you call to dispose of the body?

I took a wilderness first aid course a few years ago, but it didn't say much of anything about gunshot wounds. However, after some research, I found that instant death is not likely except in brain or heart injuries. Even so, there have been recorded instances of people with heart injuries who lived to finish the fight. It's hard to hit someone exactly in the heart as well. I do not think that it would be unlikely that someone would have a minute to say goodbye.

Heck some people get shot through the heart and live long enough to make it to the hospital for surgery.
It all depends on how the shot goes, type of bullet, etc etc.
But even with the worst scenario of heart shot, you're still going to have enough oxygen in your blood sitting in the brain to keep you conscious for ten seconds or so before you pass out.

Body disposal: put in a large black garbage bag and have it taken by the garbage people? Burning is a favorite, but the problem is bones are always left over. I read somewhere it takes pigs only three days to dispose of a body (bones and all).
I googled "how to dispose of a body" and it is amazing what people will post online!
This thread had lots of ideas (and I'm a bit scared!) http://ask.metafilter.com/7921/
Even Wikipedia has ideas! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disposal_of_human_corpses
have fun!

I imagine that if the bullet just nicked the aeorta that it might take several minutes for you to die though I don't know how long you would be conscious afterward.
