Something I have in a lot of my books (subconsciously, I swear!) is romance between two different species, normally human and something else.

Human and angel, human and Nephilim (a winged person, not the same as angel), human and vampire, human and elf, angel and elf, etc. etc.

Do you, as readers, find this sort of thing okay (they are, after all, all humanoid) or just weird?

Well, considering my romance is between a human and a humanoid alien. I'd say she's just fine to me.

I have no problem with it at all. After all... I had romance between two different types of demons in my NaNo for this year - a fox demon and a bat demon. XD I think its more accepted if they are both of the same species, like humanoids or mammals.

...I think it depends on the species.

I'd have to agree it depends on the species. Immortals and humans really tend to annoy me. It just doesn't seem quite realistic, the differences are too big inbetween them to make for a believable happy ending for the couple. However MOST other things are okay, unless you're looking at a talking squirrel or something really strange...

I think it's fine. Personally, I like romances where the couples are divided by some difference, be it age, race, religion, society, species, etc.

I'm planning one with a gryphon and a dragon in a world where gryphons and dragons are mortal enemies. Talk about a doomed relationship.

As long as it's not true bestiality, why not? Doesn't love conquer all?

Just replace the word "species" with "race", and I think you'll have your answer. As long as they're both sentient and reasonably compatible, I don't see a problem.

I can see how some people might have a problem with it, but I certainly can't say anything about it, as I write about it all the time. In my NaNovel, the two protagonists were different species of alien, and they eventually fall in love. My current project has a human falling in love with a genetically modified "hybrid." The immortal (or extremely long lived) and mortal romance is rather tiring, though, as I seem to see it everywhere nowadays.
