So, I didn't make it in time to finish for NaNoWriMo.... but I want to continue to write, hopefully finishing this before the 18th, I'd really like to write about my 4 MCs equally, But I've developed an affinity for one of them, which is alright I guess. But now all of a sudden my shy character is not really shy, just really anti-social because she hates how fake peple are. Another MC asked to be friends and she's said no, and I'm in a rut. It'll be awkward, but I'll guess I switch to another characters point of view and write on, but it seems I really don't like her any more... What do I do? Should I write her out? Bash her? Kill her? Sacrifice her to Tim? Or break charcter (pullin an SM!) Any suggestion, all suggestions, would be lovely right now. I'd like to write 3k by tonight... She needs to be in that unfortunately.

Thanks.

With my first NaNo, I had three MCs narrating, and I quickly learned that I liked one of them more than the others, and one I didn't like at all. I finished out the month and the 50k with the three of them, just focusing more on the one character's POV and as little as possible on the others.

After I was finished the first draft, I stepped back and took a look at it and decided that the reason I preferred the one character over the others was that he had more of a story to tell, so I ended up rewriting it, taking out one of the MCs entirely and replacing the other with a slightly different character who more suited the backstory. And I stuck with one narrator that time around, which I think was a better choice.

If you have multiple points of view already, I would just switch it up for a bit and see where you can go with it from a different perspective - you might change your mind about her as you go on, and if you don't, you can take her out in a rewrite.

Find a new MC.

Barring that, evaluating why you dislike a MC. If it's someone even you don't want to spend a lot of time with, how can you make readers want to spend time with him, either.

*realization dawns*

THAT's why I've had such a hard time with my NaNo's MC!

Being anti-social because you loathe insincerity can work very well.

That was the whole thing about _Catcher in the Rye_'s Holden Caufield, always criticizing the other kids around him and especially the adults as being "phonies".

And hey, that one's a classic. Learn to embrace your misanthropic MC. :)

I'd say, for your first draft, write what you feel. I know that when I get too hung up on things that don't work, I have trouble getting my story on paper/the screen/etc. Don't stress too much about characters who don't develop the way you want them to. Later, when you're editing, you can change anything you want; that's the beauty of it. For example, if you decide to kill this MC and then decide she had redeeming qualities after all, you can change the story to make it all work out. So, all that to say, go with your first instinct for now and keep the story moving.

The question is, is there a relation between those MC's?
If then what is it based on, would a anti-social character actually fit into that scheme?

Now, personally I can easily say do not kill her off but work with her because I don't have to write her. :p
But try to find out what motivates her to go through life?
Where does her anti-social behaviour come from?
What kind of character is she towards the people she does get along with (if there are any)?
Is she jovial, dependable, encouraging to those she trusts?
Is she given to mood swings, depressions, has a habit of putting down others?
Is she just a loner that fears to let others get to close?

People have reasons for being the way they are, even if they happen to be or come across as anti-social, if you can pin-point her reasons I think you can still write about her and make her work wthin the story, you don't need to like her you just need to understand her.
