Chapter V- Deis
Deis’ story is probably the longest one and the most disturbing one as we revisit pages of his past before he met his best friend (and probably his only loyal friend). Living a life out of the common, gifted with a sense of beauty and comprehension. He had everything to have the perfect possible life. Although, he lacked the environment, we still can not comprehend why he became as evil as he is today. This story was brought back to me by Mey’s eyes, after she had met with him once before the tragedy.
-Nue, Oldest Pixie of the clan in Soulless Woods-
The storm was becoming stronger outside while the poor mother struggling with the pains of childbirth screamed in agony. The husband had decided not to remain in the room with the doctor and the nurses because he was scared of what was going on inside the stomach of his wife. Her childbirth was out of the common, it was at the due date, but it consisted of the strangest symptoms medicine had seen to this day.
Suddenly, the rooms were darkened by the lack of light. Electrical power had been disabled by the horrendous storm that was happening outside. The doctors were powerless as to what was happening to their patient, but they continued helping her and they continued trying to ease her pain of childbirth. Each contractions made her weaker and weaker, but she desperately wanted the parasitic children to come out of her.
She had discuss with her husband what the children inside her stomach did to her, she had explained what she felt inside her stomach while she was pregnant. Her husband, not knowing anything about womanhood or anatomical matters that came with pregnancy approved what she said and reassured her that it was perfectly normal.
Would you say it was normal if you carried children in your stomach that constantly kicked you in your vital parts leaving you absolutely breathless and possibly scarred? Would you consider it normal that a child in your womb felt as if they were slashing your uterus walls with knives sharper then any surgical knife could have been? Absolutely not, it was as if the children inside her stomach were trying to kill the mother. But wait, if there were two children inside her, did it necessarily meant that both of them wanted to end her life, was one struggling against the other one in order to survive or was one trying to save the mother from what the other one could bring? That is where the doctors were at a lost as technology was not developed enough to elucidate this problem.
But, as soon as she would deliver the children, they would finally be able to understand part of what had happened during the pregnancy. They could either research on the babies or research the placenta for any particular points that would lead them to a conclusion.
A terrifying thunderbolt ripped opened the skies and landed on the ground with a huge growl scaring just about everyone who in the area. It was at the same moment that the first baby came out of the mother and that one of the nurses screamed.
“Oh dear lord almight, protect us from this! Look at her eyes!!!” she screamed. “Oh my dearest GOSH! I have never seen anything like that in my whole life!”
Indeed, no one in the room had seen anything this particular in a patient’s face before. It felt as if the woman who was giving birth was in trance. Her facial expression showed no emotions anymore and her eyes which had once been a beautiful aquatic grey were now a violent shade of glowing orange. Foam was starting to build on the corner of her mouth and blood dripped out of her nose unto her chest between her breasts. One of the nurses who were attending to the mother in labour fainted on the floor. Her head struck one of the monitors sending it to the floor as well. She concussed and died immediately. Another nurse who was holding the hand of the mother in labour suddenly grasp her neck for air. The doctors, unable to understand what was going on tried to help the poor nurse who was actually choking to death! One doctor actually decided to pronounce some words.
“We can not let this get us down! You!” he pointed a nurse in the back. “Fetch me some help right away and call this one an emergency to all of the hospital staff.” after screaming his orders, he pointed another doctor. “You! Immediately take care of the nurse which fell on the floor and verify her vital signs!” once again, he screamed orders, but this time to a nurse. “YOU! Immediately attend this poor choking nurse! I will take care of this woman… MYSELF!”
The courageous doctor pushed aside the nurse who was taking one of the baby away from the mother. She almost tipped and fell to the ground, but got her balance back before it was too late. Slipping new silicon free gloves, the doctor reached inside of the woman and touched the head of the other baby, he felt it coming and he felt the pushes being given by the emotionless woman. He grabbed it by the bottom of the head and gently pulled it with each of the pushes. The baby came out of the woman and as soon as it was out, the woman’s eyes became normal, her body’s tenseness disappeared and she fell on the bed. Her eyes rolled behind her lids and the rest of the nurses that were available immediately tried to reanimate the dying mother.
One of the baby was declared dead. The one the doctor was holding was still alive. The nurse who had taken the first baby showed it to the doctor who was holding the second.
“I have never seen anything like this in my whole life… First of all, this baby has both sexes, second of all it has tiny bumps on each side of its head and what seems to be claws instead of fingers and toes. What in the world is that child?” she started crying. “Curiously, it’s dead. We might never know!”
“I have no clue myself. This is as mysterious as the other child which appears to be completely fine. I guess we can understand the various pains this woman was feeling during her pregnancy, she definitely had a child inside of her that was trying to rip her insides out. But, I can’t explain it.”
The second baby started crying and asking for attention, he was handed to the nurse who had taken care of the first child to be cleaned. On the other hand, the doctor came to help the rest of the staff who was working as hard as they could to reanimate the dying mother.
“STAY WITH US! PLEASE! We still need to understand what happened 9 months ago between you and your husband!” the doctor screamed to his patient. This was no time to be formal, this was the time to understand what was going on and elucidate all of these growing mysteries. “Come on woman, YOU CAN DO IT!”
But…
It was too late…
Her heart had received too much pressure…
Her nose was bleeding too much…
And she died.
It was only later at the autopsy that they had discovered the internal lacerations that led to her death. It seems that the “demonic” child was the reason behind the affliction toward her internal organs.
The birth of the twins made three victims: two nurses and the mother.
The living baby, on the other hand was a healthy young boy. His father named him Desespoir in order to represent the emotions that the baby had left inside of him after his mother gave him birth. The second child was not named. After the father saw the dead child, his only words were: There is truly a force of darkness… The doctors tried to receive more information, but the father told them that if he was to let them in on this terrible story that they would probably die alongside of him. Fearing those words, they decided it was better to not ask anything. The autopsy on the dead baby revealed nothing to the doctors except the possibility of a mutation between the woman and an unknown creature.
A few years passed and Desespoir, who was now eight, saw his father slowly die from a terrible illness that even the doctors could not understand. With his father’s death, the people who had known what had happened the day the young boy came to this world was buried alongside the man in his grave. They would never know.
