Synopsis: The Leaving Song
Well, at this point it looks like a sequel to my last novel...and features an unfortunately pregnant girl and a Marine that SHE gets to marry. Deaths may or may not occur.
Excerpt: The Leaving Song
“Forget it, I didn’t mean…whatever. You still hungry?”
My stomach—or is it the baby’s—grumbles. Kaz smiles, opens the car door for me.
“I have a few days left; we probably have time for brunch.”
Are his parents home?
“Um. You don’t want to share a meal with my parents.”
Maybe I do.
“That would go over easy with eggs. ‘Hey, remember that girl I introduced to you awhile ago? She’s pregnant.’”
But they have to know I’m pregnant. It was what, a month ago when we met?
“I told them you had a thyroid problem.”
I don’t have any sort of problem. I have a baby.
“We have a baby. Yeah, I got that memo; however, they will be getting that memo after I leave for boot camp.”
Irresponsible.
“Were you expecting anything else?”
My stomach grumbles in response. Kaz makes a sympathy noise and pats my stomach.
“Fine, little Buddha. If you’re hungry for my mom’s five-star cuisine, then my house it is.”
I smile, shift into a more comfortable position, hold his hand over the gearshift.
