The hall was filled with smoke. A green thread of witch fire had crept past the sagging lower hinge of the door to Grandmother’s sitting room. The fire thread had raised its forward tip from the doorframe and was swaying back and forth questing for magic. Time to fix that hinge again, Wilm thought.
