Carol was stood next to the fireplace, with her arm around Piers, and if Cassie wasn’t mistaken, she’d just groped him. Cassie averted her eyes, as she was sure than Piers had a hard-on, only partly concealed by his suit jacket. Cassie was half amused and half worried that Carol would start stripping Piers there and then. She’d been friends with Carol for as long as she could remember, and knew that she had a very active sex life and appetite. Cassie had blushed many times over giggly lunches, too much wine and tales of Carol’s latest exploits. Carol was a successful author and prided herself on making sure that the sex scenes in her books were all possible and that the positions did actually work. All of her female characters had plenty of orgasms and good, or should it be bad, sex. Carol had once asked Cassie to help out when she was researching a scene involving two women, a high profile politician, an Olympic swimmer, a jar of marmite and a stuffed panda. To this day, Cassie had no idea if she was being serious or not, as that scene hadn’t appeared in a book so far. She hadn’t told Robert about any of this, he would no doubt he horrified and suggest she found a more suitable best friend and godmother to his darling daughter.
